Schafer '10
Mark and Mel on short final at Schafer. They only get their picture taken on the rare occasion that they DON'T arrive first.
Brad nails his approach to the strip.
While on a hike near Schafer, a large dead tree fell while Mel was taking our picture. Sadly, we were all killed.
What time is it? It's Hammock Time!!
Obviously, I agree!
This moose cow was running amok at the airport. We were told that she had been chasing campers and threatening Forest Service personnel for a week. They advised us to
do whatever is necessary to avoid her.
The moose that lives in front of the pizza place in Kalispell was much easier to handle.
After an afternoon shower, mist started to form over the runway and the sky caught fire. One of the finest sunsets I've seen. This photo was not altered or retouched with any
photo editing software (except for sizing). This is just what it looked like.
The show went on until dark.
If you want to have a fire, you have to cut your own wood at this wilderness strip.
It's handy to have a brother who is a chef along on a camping trip. My steaks are usually hit or miss on a campfire, but he got them right every time.
After a rainy night, everything (including tents) has to be dragged out by the runway so it can dry in the sun before being packed up.
