I hadn't been to Flying B Ranch since the late 90s.  Back then they had a policy that you had to make reservations to fly in for breakfast.   This year we found out that a simple radio call while overhead would suffice.  The ranch is a beautiful place on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.  It's located in the middle of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area.  That means you can fly in, trek about 100 miles on foot/horseback, or brave some serious whitewater and raft down the Salmon to get there.
Flying B is a private strip located 1/2 mile south of the Bernard (U54) USFS strip .  It's only about 2,000 ft. long, but at a relatively low elevation of 3650 ft.
Don't forget to call ahead and get permission to use the strip.   A truck will come out to the strip and take you back to the ranch.
