Big Creek Airstrip (U60) is a short flight from Johnson Creek. It is home to an excellent Forest Service campground and the Big Creek Lodge. The lodge is a very popular fly-in breakfast destination for backcountry campers. The food is excellent and the flight in is a blast. I highly recommend it.
Due to the runway slope, plan on landing to the south and taking off north. On approach, fly a normal left pattern to the south runway. There will be a large mountain between you and the runway. Don't worry about it. Just keep flying a normal pattern and the runway will come into view on final approach.
For campers, the campground is located near the parking area at the south end of the runway. It's heavily wooded, quiet and not usually busy. There is a small forest service fee for camping.
