The '05 backcountry trip was the first for Doug's recently completed RV-10 and for my newly redone engine. Up until a few days before our departure, we were both breaking in the new engines. I finished my first 25 hrs. and had the engine inspected just a few days before departure. Doug finished his 40 hr. experimental fly-off at about the same time.
Our trip consisted of stops in some old favorite spots, like West Yellowstone, Schafer Meadows and Johnson Creek. This year we also added a new camping destination, Moose Creek in Northern Idaho. I'd flown in to Moose Creek many years ago, but had never camped there.

Getting There '05
The truck is loaded with everything I'll need for a week in the backcountry.
By the time Doug snapped this pic of the sun rising over his right wing, we were nearly 100 miles north of PHX.
I snapped this one as we passed on the east side of the Grand Canyon, just after sunrise.
