Like Schafer Meadows in Montana, Johnson Creek is another one of my favorite strips. It's not quiet and primitive, like the wilderness strip, but it has it's own charms. Excellent facilities, well maintained, and centrally located for breakfast flights through some of the most untamed areas in the lower 48 states. It's a rare backcountry trip that doesn't include a stop at Johnson Creek.

Here's a slightly fuzzy shot of he final approach to Johnson Creek. There was a bit of canyon turbulence bumping
the camera when I took the pic. The strip looks much bigger when you're sitting safely on the ground :-))
On a fuel flight to nearby McCall, we were reminded that tricky mountain winds can catch you by surprise. The
pilot of this plane was caught by a crosswind gust, just before liftoff.
