Red Creek is a small, uncharted dirt strip located in the Tonto Nat'l forest, about 25 mi. north of Phoenix. It's a popular camping spot for local pilots in the cooler months.
Due to surrounding terrain, it's advisable to land towards the west and takeoff eastbound. Rising terrain to the west makes a go-around difficult, unless you have plenty of horsepower to spare.
The strip is about 1,500 ft. long and 30 ft. wide. There are fire rings and picnic tables for camping. It's located 11 miles north of the Horseshoe Dam on the west bank of the Verde River.

Red Creek '03
That's me on my takeoff roll departing Red Creek.
N4BQ crosses the threshold for landing. Hitting the end of the runway is important at a short strip.
Dancing on the brakes usually gets me stopped by midfield.
